It is undoubtedly the most adventurous and satisfying trek presenting the most captivating views of nature. The trekking trail offers striking views of different giant mountains such as Annapurna (8,091 m), Mt. Nilgiri ( 7,061 m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,999m), Lamjung Himal (6,983 m), Pisang Peak (6,091m), Thorong Peak (5,416m), and many more in the background. These terrific and exotic sceneary will keep you motivated throughout the trek.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek was opened to travel enthusiasts in 1977, a very popular trekking trail since then. The route starts at Besisahar to Tilicho via Chame, Pisang, and Manang, heading towards Thorong La Pass and descending to Jomsom, Tatopani, and Pokhara, and finally back to Kathmandu via vehicle or Air transportation.

The Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake and Poonhill Trek presents you with a wide variety of cultures and traditions. You may experience local Hindu culture in some parts of the trail while local Sherpa/Buddhist culture is in the other sections. However, you will get to know about Thakalis in Tatopani, Tamangs in Chame and Pisang, Gurungs in Poonhill, Sherpas in Manang, and numerous other cultures by the end of the trek.

Muktinath Temple ( God of Salvation) is one of the sacred heritage sites for both the Hindus and Buddhist communities attracting thousands of pilgrims every year. The water flowing from 108 taps in the outer courtyard is believed to be sacred and pious.

The other major attraction is the Barge Monastery in Manang which is sacred to the Sherpas in Manang also the largest monastery in Manang itself.

Ecosystem and Vegetation in Annapurna Circuit Trail

The Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho and Poonhill Trek presents a wide diversity of ecosystems ranging from tropical to freezing alpine zone. You will walk past villages with rice paddy fields ascending to the dense green forests with blooming Rhododendrons, tall trees of pine, and junipers while you will also spend your days on barren rocky lands with no sight of trees or plants. The initial and final days will be spent in villages with dense settlements while the mid-days will be spent in remote areas with no signs of human settlement. Fortunately, as we will be going through the Annapurna Conservation Area, we can expect to encounter some wildlife, but if we get lucky enough, we might see Snow Leopard and Blue Sheep. The Apple Farms in the Mustang and Manang valleys are wonderful to watch as well.

Therefore, Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake is the perfect trek to experience the diverse ecosystem.

Best Season or Time to Trek in the Annapurna Circuit

The best time to go on a trek in the Annapurna Circuit is in March, April to May, and September, October, November, and early December. The monsoon and winter seasons make the trail very difficult to trek. Monsoons bring the risks of landslides and floods while winters shut down all lodges and activities due to extreme temperatures. So, if you wish to accumulate the memories of white snow-capped mountains, dense green forests, picturesque villages, vibrant colors of blossoms, and breathtaking waterfalls and glacial lakes, Annapurna Circuit Trek with Tilicho Lake and Poonhill Trek is the best choice for you and you can travel between March to May or September to early December.
