Langtang region offers some of the best and highly refreshing treks including the Langtang Valley Trek and Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu Trek that takes us to one of the sacred pilgrimage sites of the Hindus; Gosaikunda. Langtang-Gosaikunda-Helambu trek runs through a quieter but very attractive trekking route that starts at Syabrubesi and ends at Melamchi Bazaar.
The trekking region falls within the Langtang National Park, the first Himalayan National Park, established in 1976 in order to protect wildlife and natural vegetation. So, expect to encounter some rare species like Himalayan Black Bear, Wild Boar, Red Pandas, Leopards, Langur, Ghoral, and much other wildlife that wander in the area. We trek along with the temperate and sub-alpine vegetation during the trek. Hence, we can observe beautiful terraced farmlands in the lower parts rising towards dense forests of Pine, Deodars, Rhododendron, and Bamboo forests. Later, when we gain much elevation, we will be walking above the tree line on barren landscapes with wild bushes only.
The most attractive aspect of this trek is the Gosaikunda Lake with 108 other smaller lakes in its vicinity. Carrying its own religious history, Gosaikunda is one heavenly attraction to tourists as well as pilgrims. The beautiful sights of the Ganesh Himal Range, Langtang Himal Range, Annapurna massif, and other smaller peaks in the proximity are the bonus that rewards us during the tiring trek.
The trekking trail from Langtang to Helambu is inhabited by ethnic communities such as Tamang and Sherpas whose lifestyle, culture, and traditions are highly influenced by Tibetan practices. We will get to visit several old monasteries including the popular Kyanjin Gompa, Gompas and witness prayer flags along the trail that make our trip divine.
To summarize the Langtang Gosaikunda Helambu Trek is an exceptional opportunity to travel in the remote and adventurous trekking trail on the outskirts of Kathmandu valley witnessing major Himalayan ranges exploring the ethnic culture, and spending nights in villages resided by heartwarming kind people.
