8K Expeditions Mr. Pemba Sherpa Officially Appointed As Board Member Of The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB)

We are proud and delighted to announce our founder, Mr. Pemba Sherpa, has been appointed as a Board Member of Nepal Tourism Board on 14^th July 2026.

The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), established in 1998 A.D. is Nepal's national tourism organization, established through a partnership between the government of Nepal and the private tourism sector. It is responsible for promoting Nepal as a premier travel destination, supporting sustainable tourism development, strengthening the country's tourism policies, and showcasing Nepal's unique natural, cultural, and adventure tourism experiences to the world.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board committee, he is one of five new members chosen through a ministerial decision after a recommendation committee reviewed over 1,100 applications and shortlisted 10 candidates. He will be serving as a board member of Nepal Tourism Board for a three-year period.

Mr. Sherpa brings nearly 15 years of experience in Nepal's tourism industry. Born in the Makalu region. He has managed numerous Expeditions and Treks in Nepal.

This appointment truly reflects the right person in the right place, as Mr. Sherpa has been contributing to the mountaineering field for many years. He previously worked as general manager at a leading trekking agency, where he oversaw trip planning and operations with a strong focus on traveler safety and service quality.

As a Board Member of the NTB, Mr. Sherpa aims to help strengthen tourism policies, promote sustainable destination development, enhance visitor experiences, foster stronger public-private collaboration, and further elevate Nepal's position as a leading global adventure tourism destination.
