Khumbu Icefall Route Open For Everest Spring 2026

 

On 28 April 2026, a united authorized force of highly experienced Sherpa guides from various leading expedition companies, 8K Expeditions (Temba Sherpa, Phurba Sherpa, Pemtenji Sherpa & Phudorchi Sherpa), TAG Nepal (Dawa Sherpa & Pasang Renjee Sherpa), Seven Summit Treks (Dawa Sherpa & Fur Tenjing Sherpa), Pioneer Adventure (Dandu Sherpa & Nima Undgi Sherpa), and AGA Adventure (Wongchu Sherpa), together with the dedicated Icefall Doctors (SPCC), has successfully opened the route through the world-famous Khumbu Icefall to Camp I and Camp II on Mount Everest.

Airlift Technology supported rope-fixing teams by delivering ropes, ladders, snow bars, and food during critical phases while using 3D photogrammetry and real-time drone surveys to map the Khumbu Icefall and assess hazards like seracs and crevasses.

 

The route to C1 and C2 is now officially open. However, a massive hanging serac remains unstable with an ongoing risk of rockfall. Safety is our highest priority,  further rotations should proceed with extreme caution and at your own risk.

 

A major serac remains unstable and may collapse within 4–5 days—avoid carrying heavy loads through the icefall.

 

Yes, the season is slightly delayed, but in the mountains, nature leads and we follow with respect.

 

We remain fully committed to supporting the EOA team with additional manpower to ensure rope fixing on Everest (8,848 m) and Lhotse (8,516 m) reaches the summit as soon as possible.
