BBC BSL Presenter Michael Joseph Woods Summits the World’s Highest Peak

Ten years of dreaming. Countless hours of training. One extraordinary summit. Today, that dream became reality.

Mr. Michael Joseph Woods, a proud mountaineer and British Sign Language (BSL) TV presenter at the BBC, has successfully summited Mt. Everest (8,848.86 m) on 21st May 2026, standing tall on the roof of the world alongside professional climbing guides Mr. Phurba Sherpa 🇳🇵, Mr. Fudorchi Sherpa 🇳🇵, and Mr. Pasang Arya Sherpa 🇳🇵.

This is not just a personal milestone. This is a powerful story of determination, resilience, and the unbreakable human spirit.

A Dream Ten Years in the Making

For Michael, the summit of Everest was never just a goal on a bucket list. It was a decade-long dream, one that required patience, sacrifice, and an unwavering belief that no barrier, whether physical or societal, could stand in the way of a determined mind.

As a Deaf mountaineer navigating the world of high-altitude climbing, Michael has consistently defied expectations both on and off the mountain. And today, he wrote his name into the history books.

A Journey Built One Peak at a Time

Michael's path to Everest was methodical, disciplined, and deeply inspiring. Each mountain he conquered served as a stepping stone toward the world's highest summit:

⛰️ Aconcagua — the highest peak in the Americas
⛰️ Mt. Elbrus (5,642 m) — the highest peak in Europe
⛰️ Mt. Kilimanjaro (5,895 m) — the highest peak in Africa
⛰️ Lobuche Peak (6,000 m)—successfully summited on 21st April 2026, alongside professional high-altitude videographer Mr. Pasang Arya Sherpa and experienced climbing guide Mr. Phurba Sherpa
