Meet the Expedition Leader: Naoko Watanabe

At the helm of the 2026 Nanga Parbat Expedition is the legendary Naoko Watanabe, a name synonymous with courage, endurance, and excellence in the world of 8,000-meter climbing. She is the first Japanese woman to complete all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks, a feat that places her among the greatest mountaineers in history. More remarkably still, she is the first woman to summit K2 three times, cementing her status as a true pioneer of high-altitude alpinism.

Nanga Parbat is no stranger to Naoko. She returns in 2026 to one of her favorite mountains, bringing with her years of expertise, unmatched technical skill, and an infectious passion for the peaks that continues to inspire climbers around the globe.

Nanga Parbat: The World's Ninth-Highest Mountain

Located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, Nanga Parbat rises to a commanding 8,126 meters (26,660 feet), making it the ninth-highest mountain in the world. Known historically as the "Killer Mountain" for its formidable reputation, it remains one of the most challenging and breathtaking ascents on Earth.
Among its many features, none is more spectacular than the iconic Rupal Face, the highest mountain face on Earth. Towering over the Rupal Valley, this massive wall of rock and ice is a defining landmark of the Himalayan landscape and a powerful symbol of the mountain's scale and grandeur.

What to Expect: Climbing and Trekking in 2026

The Nanga Parbat Expedition 2026 caters to both elite climbers and adventure trekkers, offering two distinct but equally rewarding experiences on the mountain.

Our climbing team will pursue the technical ascent of Nanga Parbat, navigating its challenging routes under the expert guidance of Naoko Watanabe and our experienced team of high-altitude professionals. Every step of the climb is planned with precision, preparation, and safety as the top priorities.

Meanwhile, our trekking  members will explore the spectacular surrounding landscape winding through lush alpine meadows, dramatic glacial valleys, and remote mountain villages that few travelers ever get to witness. The Nanga Parbat trekking circuit is widely regarded as one of the most scenic and rewarding trekking routes in all of Pakistan.

Safety, Responsibility, and Respect for the Mountains

At the core of everything we do is a solid commitment to safe and responsible mountaineering. From acclimatization protocols and weather monitoring to environmental stewardship and ethical climbing practices, our expeditions are designed to protect both our team members and the pristine mountain environments we operate in.

We believe that the mountains deserve the same respect they command and that every expedition should leave both people and landscapes better than it found them.
