Makalu Expedition 2026 | Sacred Puja Ceremony Marks the Beginning

 

With deep devotion and respect for the mountains, the Puja ceremony has been performed at Makalu Base Camp (5,100M), marking the official start of the Makalu Summit expedition.

Before every great Himalayan climb, this spiritual ritual seeks blessings from the mountain gods for safety, success, and protection of every climber and Sherpa on the journey ahead. Prayer flags rise with the wind, incense fills the air, and every heart stands still in gratitude and hope.

 

From this powerful moment, the path to the summit of Makalu (8,485 m) begins one of the world’s most challenging and majestic 8000ers.

 

A heartfelt thank you to our Base Camp Operator, Mr. Pemba Rinjin Sherpa, for his dedicated support and coordination in this important ceremony.
