Pokalde Peak, popularly known as “Dolma Ri” delivers a stupendous trekking experience in the southwest part of the prominent Everest Region. The 5,806 metered peak magnificently lies in the Khumbu Region just twelve kilometers southwest of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. The peak astonishingly offers some unbelievable sights of Makalu (8,463m), AmaDablam (6,812m), and Pumori (7,161m).


It is relatively considered as one of the easiest peaks to ascend without any technical obstructions. In spite of trekking at the 5,800 meters altitude, it is undoubtedly a famous commercial trekking peak where thousands of beginners come to relish its remarkable beauty and get to experience the unique Sherpa culture and lifestyle. The first historical ascent was achieved on April 15, 1953, crossing Kongma La Pass (5,535) meters marking as one of the significant trails which are even trekked today. Additionally, one can cherish some rare sights of snow leopards patrolling in the snowy landscape, Mahalangur HimalayanRange, and historical Tengboche Monastery.

The most favorable seasons to climb Pokalde Peak are Autumn (October-November) and Spring (March-May) as the weather remains clear and mild in these times.

    Arrival In Kathmandu And Preparation For The Trek

    As soon as you arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport, one of our representatives will welcome and escort you to the booked hotel. On the second day, we will initiate our official procedure including travel permit, bag pack, shopping, documentation, and briefing about our expedition. Additionally, you will also be able to greet other traveling companions.

    Fly From Kathmandu To Lukla (2,860m) And Trek To Phakding

    Our expedition initiates early in the morning after a palatable breakfast. We will fly to Lukla completing a remarkable flight of 30 minutes.  After our flight, we will land at one of the most perilous airports in the world, Lukla Airport.


    As soon as we land, we will start trekking on the famous Everest Base Camp Trekking Route. We will descend through the dense forest following River Dudh Koshi. After trekking for a few hours, we will reach Phakding and spend an overnight.

    Trek To Namche Bazar (3,440 M) From Phakding, 6 Hours And Acclimatize

    Our full phase trekking starts from Phakding. We will hike through some lush forests full of rhododendrons welcoming on our way. While trekking, you will have a splendid view of Mount Tharmasekhu. After a few our walk, we will reach Monjo, the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. Completing a six-hour trek, we will finally reach Namche Bazar, a major trading area of the Everest region full of restaurants, hotels, and shops. We will rest here and prepare for the next day.


    While trekking in the mountainous regions, our body requires enough rest and needs to acclimatize to adjust to higher elevations.  After an early breakfast, we will initiate to explore the town and go for a short hike to Kunde and Khumjung, two sensational Sherpa settlements where one can learn Sherpa culture and lifestyle. As soon as we finish our visit to the vicinities of Namche Bazar, we will spend an overnight at a hotel.

    Trek To Tengboche (3,800 M) From Namche Bazar (3,440 M), 5 Hours

    We will leave Namche Bazar and head to Tengboche (3,800m) on our sixth day. We will ascend through the forests of Syanboche reaching Khumjung village. The trail descends back to the bank of DhudKoshi again. Crossing numerous lush woods of pine, we will reach Tengboche, one of the prominent villages in the Everest region. We will conclude our day with a short visit to Tengboche Monastery and spend an overnight.

    Trek To Dingboche (4,360 M) From Tengboche (3,800 M), 5 Hours

    Following our expedition schedule, we will resume our trek from Tengboche Monastery praying for our successful journey. The views of wide landscapes and elegant meadows will surely hypnotize you on the way. After crossing several Sherpa villages, we reach Dingboche (3,800m) and spend an overnight.

    Trek To Lobuche (4,900 M) From Dingboche (4,360 M), 6 Hours

    A glorious sunrise will wake you up at Dingboche. After an early breakfast, we will get back to the trail again. The path starts getting rocky from here however some unprecedented sights will wipe your exhaustion. After crossing several memorials dedicated to the courageous souls who lost their lives in Everest, Lobuche (4,900m) will greet us. The village is the major threshold to Lobuche Peak.

    Trek To Gorakshep (5,150m), Trek To Everest Base Camp And Trek Back To Gorakshep, 8 Hours

    The ninth day marks one of the eminent days of our entire expedition. We will continue to trek through the rocky path elevating to the higher altitude. After walking upon some moraines, we will reach Gorakshep (5,150m) and have our lunch. After having our lunch, we will head to one of the magnificent places on earth, Everest Base Camp, and worship the supreme, Mount Everest (Sagarmatha, 8,848.86m).

    After exploring the base camp, we will retrace our footsteps and return to Gorakshep overnight.

    Trek To Trek To Kalapatthar (5,545 M) And Trek Back To Lobuche (4,900 M), 7 Hours

    We will resume our trek after a scrumptious breakfast at Gorakshep. Our aim will be to reach Kalapatthar (5,545m) where one is bestowed with the perfect sight of Everest. The trail ascends through the rocky path for 3 hours until our arrival at Kalapatthar. As soon as we reach there, everyone will be astonished to see an unrealistic sight of Mount Everest. After relishing the views from Kalapatthar, we will trek back to Lobuche for overnight rest.

    Trek To Pokalde Base Camp (4,400 M) Through Kangma La Pass (5,545 M), 7 Hours

    Following our travel schedule, we will continue our trek from Lobuche at the earliest hour in the morning. The path gets more rugged as we will come across the popular Kangma La Pass (5,545m). We will descend from the pass and finally reach Pokalde Base Camp (4,400m) where Pokalde Peak stands tall right in front of our eyes.

    Trek To High Camp (5,000 M), 5 Hours

    Before our climbing, we will complete our final preparation to elevate to the high camp as our Sherpas will rehearse glacial travel and climbing technique. In terms of distance, the High Camp is not much far from the base camp. However, the severe surface will make you struggle on the way. On the other side, you will be bewitched glancing Mount Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, and Nuptse during the climb. After completing a complex climb, we will reach the high camp and rest for the night dreaming about the summit.

    Summit Day (5,806m) And Trek Back To Chhukung (4,730m), 8 Hours

    We finally come to the most significant day. Today, we will attempt the summit speculating the weather. If the weather favors us, we will initiate the climb. It will be tough as the trail is vertical. After a five-hour climb, we will finally cherish the moment which we have been waiting for a fortnight. As soon as you glorify the summit (5,806m), some unbelievable sights of Makalu (8,463m), AmaDablam (6,812m), and Pumori (7,161m) will appear and astonish our senses.


    After the felicitation of our victory over Pokalde Peak, we will descend back to Chhukung (4,730m) for an overnight.

     Trek Back To Tengboche (3,800m) From Chhukung (4,730m), 6 Hours

    After our remarkable achievement, we will trace back our trail to Tengboche through lush forest. Following the same trail, we will reach Tengboche and stay there for the night.

    Trek Back To Monjo (2,835m) From Tengboche (3,800m), 6 Hours

    We will leave Tengboche and descend to the portal of Sagarmatha National Park, Monjo. Gradually, we will be coming far away from the mountains. The trail passes through Namche Bazar and leads to Monjo overnight.

    Trek Back To Lukla (2,840m), 5 Hours

    It will be a relaxing day. The trail is smooth and convenient as we will head to Lukla and prepare for our flight to the capital.

    Flight From Lukla To Kathmandu.

    The seventeenth day will be our conclusion to an exceptional trip. We will fly back to Kathmandu and equip you for your final departure.

    Final Departure

    Our trip to PokaldePeak will end on this day. However, you will return home with infinite memories locked in your memory for eternity. One of our representatives will escort you to Tribhuwan International Airport and bid you a cordial farewell before your scheduled flight.

However, the above-mentioned itinerary may change as per the expedition’s obstructions but the quality of our service is guaranteed.  In case of a delayed flight, we are obliged to inform you that besides the total number of days included in the itinerary, clients are compelled to bear the expenses of the extra days themselves.  Apparently, 8k Expeditions will assist necessary arrangements for your comfort.


Trekkers are advised to schedule their flights at convenient time frames as we shall not be responsible for missed international flights or luggage before our reception. You are also suggested not to carry insignificant materials for your own ease.
