Trip Overview

Langtang Valley, located towards the North of Kathmandu Valley is one of the perfect and nearby destinations for trekking and hiking presenting some of the most beautiful places on Earth. It is believed that the Langtang Valley was discovered in ancient times by a Buddhist monk in the course of following a Yak that went running towards the valley. Hence, the name is Langtang where “Lang” means “Yak” and “Tang” means “to follow” in the Tibetan language.

Langtang has become one of the most popular choices for trekking because of its stunning landscapes, serene wilderness, proximity to the Himalayas, the impressive Tamang, and Sherpa culture, and the holy places Gosaikunda and Kyanjin Gompa. You get to witness a bustling city, culturally rich settlements, densely lush forests, high alpine pasturelands, glaciers and moraines, waterfalls, numerous lakes, and rivers, and also the mesmerizing views of Annapurna, Manaslu, and Langtang Himal ranges during the trek.

Including Langtang National Park within itself, Langtang Valley also gives an opportunity to the trekkers to encounter rare species of Flora and Faunas during the trek. Apart from the natural beauty and wilderness, Langtang Valley is the habitat of ethnic groups such as Tamang and Sherpas who portray a distinct way of lifestyle that showcases their simplicity, hard work, and warm-heartedness towards the visitors. Throughout the trek, one can see the prayer flags, small Chhortens as the area is dominantly resided by Buddhists. There are numerous Yak farms, terraced farmlands in the slopes, and houses built with stones that reflect the beautiful rural lifestyle of the locals.

The best part of this trek is that it can be organized any time of the year. So, if you wish to go on a trek that covers adventure, thrill, natural beauty yet requires a shorter time period, Langtang Valley Trek is the perfect choice for you. It does not even require much experience in trekking but be sure to train your body to walk for long hours with a bag pack.
