Mardi Himal Trek is a perfect blend of adventure, thrill, and tranquility highly suitable for those with tight time schedules. Located towards the east of the very popular Annapurna Base Camp Trekking trail, Mardi Himal Trek is one beautiful opportunity to immerse yourself into nature, which is serene, unspoiled, and appealing.
Opened for tourism in 2012, the Mardi Himal Trek has been one of the highly popular trekking trails as it requires a short time period and does not demand any trekking experience. Mardi Himal Trek is a mesmerizing off-the-beaten trekking experience taking you through the dense green forests of Rhododendron, Pine, Firs, and Deodars while also letting you stay in heart-warming villages of Rai, Limbu, and Gurung cultures. While the beauty of those picturesque villages will spellbind you, you will also be delighted to witness the daily lifestyle as well as the local culture and traditions of the inhabitants.
The trekking trail goes just beneath Mt. Machhapuchhre offering the splendid beauty of the Himalayas and spectacular views of the landscapes. Nilgiri, Machhapuchhre, Tent Peak, Annapurna massif play hide and seek in the backgrounds throughout the trail. The diverse ecosystem, dense forests, waterfalls and streams, and the tempting beauty of the Himalayas are the best aspects of this trek. However, the view of glorious Sunrise from the Mardi Himal Base Camp, also called the Upper Viewpoint is the show-stealer.
The best seasons to go on Mardi Himal Trek are Spring (April, May, June) and Autumn that fall during the months of September, October, and November. During the Winter season, the temperature is cold and most of the path is covered by snow, which might pose difficulty in walking. During the monsoon, rivers are flooded and landslides are prone. But the sceneries after rain are magnificent and mesmerizing.
So, if you are looking to travel in the unspoiled parts near the Himalayas but are short of time and have a limited budget, Mardi Himal Trek is the perfect option for you. Let us organize an awesome trip for you that is equally thrilling and adventurous.
Upon your arrival, one of our representatives will be waiting for you at the airport. After completing official formalities at the airport terminal, you will be transferred to the hotel booked for you. You can relax and go sightseeing around Thamel in the evening.
After early morning breakfast at the hotel, we will take a cozy Tourist bus to Pokhara. If you wish to take a flight, we can organize the flight for an additional cost. The trip by road is exciting as we move along the Trishuli river where numerous rafts can be seen during peak season. After a drive of about 6 hours, we will finally reach Pokhara and check-in at our hotel. You are free to explore the Lakeside and nearby places in the evening.
From the beautiful city of Pokhara, we drive to Kande, the starting point of our trek. We then start our trek until we reach Australian Camp for lunch. After spending some good time, we will descend to Pitham and rest overnight at a lodge. The total trek hours is about 4-5 hours on this day.
The trek from Deurali to Forest Camp gives the feel of being in the wild as we leave the villages behind and trek on quiet, undisturbed trails. We move through the dense forests watching the vistas of the Himalayas that tend to move alongside us. After walking for about 6-7 hours, we finally reach Forest Camp where we will spend our night.
After breakfast at Forest Camp, we head towards Badal Danda. As the name implies, we will approach the “cloud forest” with mosses, tree ferns, orchids, and lichens. The panoramic views of Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Mt. Machhapuchhre, and the Modi Khola Valley leading up to the Annapurna Sanctuary are just wonderful. After a hike of 4-5 hours, we finally reach Badal Danda, where we will have lunch and rest for the day.
The initial trail from Badal Danda is a steep climb that takes us out of the forest and leads to a grassy ridge until we reach High Camp at 3540 m. As it is only a 4 hours hike, we reach High Camp by early afternoon. We adore the beauty of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre that reside right in front of us. Rest overnight in a lodge.
On this day, we wake up for a fulfilling breakfast and head up towards the Upper View Point, Mardi Himal Base Camp. Under favorable weather, we will be able to witness the classic panoramic vistas of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, and Ganesh Himal as well. The glaciers of Annapurna Sanctuary can be seen below. After some time of relaxation and admiration of views, we will descend back to high camp and further to Badal Danda to rest overnight.
We start early at Badal Danda and descend to Siding Village. Walking past the dense forests of Rhododendron, Pine, and Oaks, we slowly start leaving the mountains behind and approach the picturesque villages with terraced farmlands. After lunch at Siding Village, we further head towards Lumre and take a private jeep to drive to Pokhara. We will relax at the hotel in Pokhara.
From the beautiful city Pokhara, we take the tourist bus back to Kathmandu. Driving on the winding roads, we finally reach Kathmandu where you will be transferred to the hotel to rest. We will meet at the farewell dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant.
Thanking you for the wonderful trip, one of our representatives will drop you off at the airport 3 hours prior to your scheduled departure.
